PRIORITIES:     Improve the quality of teaching and outcomes for pupils by:-

 

  1. Developing the roles of leaders so that they are regularly checking the quality of teaching, providing appropriate support and leading improvements (both whole school and targeted teachers – particularly those new to school)
  2. Reading – develop the teaching of comprehension
  3. Writing – embed the writing strategy and ensure that audience and purpose is clear and that pupils develop independent writing skills
  4. Maths – provide further support and guidance for teachers so that they can plan for progression, deepen pupils’ conceptual understanding of maths and challenge more able pupils.

 

Priority 1 – Leadership

 

 

  • Further improve the rigour and effectiveness of Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Develop the role of the new SEN leader to ensure that provision and outcomes are improved for these pupils
  • Use assessment information more effectively to plan improvements and target support appropriately for pupil groups
  • Develop the skills of governors so that they can hold leaders to account more effectively

 

Priority 2 – Reading

 

  • Improve pupils’ independence in Writing by embedding the school writing strategy
  • Develop strategies and initiatives to promote reading for enjoyment
  • Improve provision in UKS2 to ensure that more able pupils are suitably challenged in reading

 

Priority 3 – Writing

 

  • Improve pupils’ independence in Writing by embedding the school writing strategy
  • Deepen teachers’ subject knowledge in GPS/Writing  so that feedback to pupils is more precise and effective
  • Provide targeted support for teachers to improve the quality of teaching of writing

 

Priority 4 – Maths

 

  • Improve the support for teachers to  enable them to plan for progression in maths and ensure that more able pupils are suitably challenged
  • Improve the support for teachers to enable them to teach deeper conceptual understanding so that pupils can solve problems and reason in maths
  • Provide targeted support for teachers to improve the quality of teaching of maths
