Our trip to the Dale Countryside Museum

We had a fantastic time on our trip to the Dales Countryside Museum. We took part in lots of exciting activities.  We looked at real Roman artifacts, we were history detectives, explored the museum and created out own mosaics.

The staff at the museum were extremely proud of the children and they said they were very enthusiastic and work extremely hard.  A fabulous day!

Autumn 2

The Chocolate Factory!

This week in PE the children in Delius did the Mannequin Challenge

Click the link to see how they got on!

In Delius Class, we tried different types of smoothies. We evaluated what we liked about each one, what we would change and we gave each smoothie a rating out of 10. We are going to be planning and making our own fruit smoothie and putting together a marketing campaign for our own fruit smoothie. It will be called the ‘Fruit Apprentice!’

We have had a great start to the year in Delius Class!

The winners of the ‘Poo Awards’ were Hiba, Muhammed, Haiderullah, Maya, Azher and Simrah!

The winning video!

In Delius class, we have been learning about different types of teeth. We found out we have four types of teeth and they are incisors, canines, premolars and molars. We worked in small groups to discuss how we ate bread and which teeth we used.

Haiderullah said, “First, I used my incisors to bite into the bread. Then, I used my canines to rip a piece of the bread off so it went into my mouth. Next, I used my premolars and molars to chew and crush the bread into tiny pieces. Finally I swallowed the bread!”

In Delius, we have been completing different homework projects. Abigail Sims produced a fantastic model of a 3D tooth. She chose to make a molar tooth. This tooth is found at the back of your mouth. They are used for crushing and grinding food so the food is small enough to swallow. She used different materials to make her 3D model of a molar tooth. Abigail also produced an eye catching poster about the different parts of a tooth. Did you know the enamel that covers the tooth is the hardest substance in your body?

In Delius, we have been learning about the digestive system. In small groups, we have making our own gigantic digestive systems! We used a range of materials to make them such as tights, tissue paper, card, paper, glue, masking tape and paint. Our digestive systems have included all the main parts. They are the oesophagus, stomach, gall bladder, liver, small intestine, large intestine, rectum and the anus.

Lewis Butler and Alaana Iqbal have created two fantastic digestive systems for their homework projects this half term. They are on display in the classroom for everybody see! I have been so impressed with the amazing projects that have been produced this half term.

Look at the wonderful homework projects the children have brought in this half term.

Thank you for all the family and friends that came to the ‘Burps, Bottoms and Bile Exhibition’ in classrooms. It was great to see so many people come and look at all the children’s hard work. They have learnt a lot over this half term in their creative curriculum topic and it has been great to see all the children enjoying their learning.

The children have produced some wonderful digestive systems in small groups and they have shown a superb understanding about the process of digestion. Take a look at their completed Giganta Guts!!
